Who we are

Our Office of the State Archivist (OSA) is a small team that supports state and local government, government business enterprises (GBEs), state owned companies, state authorities, and the University of Tasmania (UTAS) to meet their requirements under the Archives Act 1983, (Tas). We:

  • provide a whole-of-government framework of policy and advice to guide the creation, retention, management and access of government records in Tasmania
  • issue Retention and Disposal Schedules identifying records that should be kept permanently as State Archives, and ensuring temporary records are kept accessible for appropriate lengths of time
  • develop capability through training and supporting communities of practice.

We encourage you to contact us.
